Chlamydia/Gonococcus, Pharyngeal Swab, NAA
Also known as: Chlamydia/Gonococcus, Amplicor® PCR, Chlamydia/Gonococcus, Aptima® TMA, Chlamydia/Gonococcus, ProbeTec™ SDA
Use
Detect Chlamydia trachomatis and Neisseria gonorrhoeae
Special Instructions
Submit one specimen per test requested. Specify the exact specimen source or origin, such as pharyngeal, on the test request form. Use the blue-shafted swab, labeled 'unisex collection swab for endocervical and male urethral specimens,' to collect the specimen. Do not use the white-shafted swab.
Limitations
The test is limited to detecting infections in the pharyngeal area and may not be suitable for detecting infections in other anatomical locations. It is crucial to use the correct collection method and handling to avoid false negatives. Inappropriate transport conditions, use of bacterial swabs, or specimens from non-pharyngeal sites may lead to specimen rejection. Aptima swabs older than 60 days or not supplied by Gen-Probe may also be rejected.
