Special Instructions
The test involves separation of plasma immediately after collection, and the transfer of the specimen to a certified metal-free plastic transport tube for shipment to the laboratory.
Limitations
The test was developed and its performance characteristics were determined by LabCorp. However, it has not been cleared or approved by the Food and Drug Administration. Overexposure to cobalt generally occurs in industrial environments through the inhalation of cobalt dust and/or fumes. Cobalt exposure can also occur through ingestion of medications like cobaltous chloride.
