Complement C1q, Quantitative
Use
This test is used as an aid in the diagnosis and treatment of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE).
Special Instructions
State patient's sex on the request form when ordering this test.
Limitations
Plasma should be avoided for this test as fibrin might cause nonspecific precipitation, leading to incorrect interpretation. It is essential to handle the specimen properly to avoid chylous or lipemic serum, hemolysis, or gross bacterial contamination, all of which could invalidate the results. Repeat testing may not be possible if only the minimum volume of 0.1 mL is provided, as additional testing would require more serum.
