Fibroblast Growth Factor 23
Also known as: FGF-23 C-Terminal Fragment
Use
This test is used for measurement of Fibroblast Growth Factor 23 in plasma.
Special Instructions
A morning 12-hour fasting sample is recommended but not required. The test measures both the intact FGF-23 and its C-terminal fragments using a second-generation C-terminal assay.
Limitations
This test was developed and its performance characteristics determined by Labcorp. It has not been cleared or approved by the Food and Drug Administration. The presence of gross lipemia or non-EDTA plasma samples can lead to rejection. It measures both intact FGF-23 and its fragments, which may limit specificity.
