Gonadotropin-releasing Hormone
Also known as: GNRH, LHRH
Use
This test measures the level of gonadotropin‑releasing hormone (GnRH), also known as luteinizing hormone‑releasing hormone (LHRH). GnRH produced in the hypothalamus regulates the secretion of pituitary gonadotropins (LH and FSH), which are critical for pubertal development and reproductive function. Abnormal circulating GnRH levels may aid in assessment of delayed or precocious puberty and related endocrine disorders.
Special Instructions
Add aprotinin (Trasylol®) to all specimens to maintain analyte stability. Separate the plasma immediately, store, and ship it frozen. Use a chilled lavender‑top (EDTA) tube, add Trasylol®, centrifuge to obtain plasma, freeze immediately. For multiple tests on frozen specimens, submit separate frozen specimens to avoid delays.
