Gynecologic Pap Test (Image-guided), Liquid-based Preparation and Chlamydia/Gonococcus, NAA
Use
Diagnose primary or metastatic neoplasma; detect Chlamydia trachomatis and Neisseria gonorrhoeae
Special Instructions
It is important to include detailed patient history on the cytology request form, including date of birth, identification number, previous malignancies, therapies, menstrual history, surgical history, hormone treatments, and any other relevant clinical information. Pap tests will be referred to a pathologist if there are reactive or reparative cellular changes, atypical squamous or glandular cells, or cells in premalignant or malignant categories, with associated service charges applied.
Limitations
The Pap test may be limited by inadequate sampling of cervical cells. Failure to obtain adequate ectocervical, endocervical, or vaginal cell population may result in suboptimal evaluation. Excessive use of lubricating jelly on the vaginal speculum can interfere with cytologic examination, leading to unsatisfactory results. Testing for Chlamydia and Gonococcus requires specific procedures, and cross-contamination may occur when using molecular testing transport devices. Specimens must be processed promptly within specific timeframes to ensure accurate results.
