Gynecologic Pap Test (Image-guided), Liquid-based Preparation and Chlamydia/Gonococcus/Trichomonas, NAA
Use
Diagnose primary or metastatic neoplasm; detect Chlamydia trachomatis, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, and Trichomonas vaginalis
Special Instructions
Ensure to include patient details such as date of birth, Social Security number, prior malignancies, and other treatment details on the cytology test request form. Adherence to collection protocols and proper specimen submission are crucial for accurate results.
Limitations
Inadequate collection of ectocervical, endocervical, or vaginal cells can compromise the evaluation. Overuse of lubricants may interfere with cytologic examination. Testing for sexually transmitted organisms requires appropriate specimen processing, which cannot be added after submission. Proper transportation and handling are necessary to prevent cross-contamination. The use of incompatible transport devices or expired collection vials can result in specimen rejection.
