Heavy Metals Profile I, Whole Blood
Use
Monitor exposure to arsenic, lead, and mercury
Special Instructions
Patients preparing for the test should avoid seafood and red wine for 72 hours prior to collection. This precaution is aimed at minimizing confounding factors that can affect the accuracy of the test results. Samples should be collected in a royal blue-top (EDTA) tube and kept in the original tube for submission.
Limitations
This test measures arsenic, lead, and mercury levels, and is not cleared or approved by the FDA. While highly effective for detecting exposure to these heavy metals, other metals or contaminants are not assessed. Clotted specimens are unacceptable and will be rejected, thus careful collection and handling are critical.
