Special Instructions
Patients should avoid consuming seafood and red wine 72 hours prior to specimen collection to prevent interference with test results. Ensure specimen is maintained at room temperature and avoid clotted specimens.
Limitations
The test performance characteristics were determined by Labcorp, and it has not been cleared or approved by the FDA. High levels of arsenic can result from dietary consumption of seafood, which might affect results. Proper differentiation between methylmercury and inorganic mercury exposure is advised using both blood and urine mercury levels.
