Human Immunodeficiency Virus 1 (HIV-1) Trofile® DNA (Monogram® Coreceptor Tropism), Whole Blood
Use
Detect HIV-1 coreceptor tropism; determine eligibility for CCR5 antagonist therapy such as Selzentry™ (maraviroc).
Special Instructions
The test employs polymerase chain reaction (PCR) amplification and viral culture methodologies. Trofile™ is a registered trademark of Monogram Biosciences. Be aware that additional time may be required for further confirmatory or reflex testing. For optimal turnaround times, ensure separate frozen specimens are submitted if multiple tests are requested.
Limitations
This test should be used only for patients with documented HIV-1 infection and undetectable viral loads. It has been developed and its performance characteristics determined by Labcorp. However, it has not been cleared or approved by the Food and Drug Administration, which may limit its use in certain clinical settings.
