Immunoglobulin A, Subclass 2
Also known as: IgA Subclass 2, IgA2
Use
Study IgA deficiencies in patients in association with recurrent sinopulmonary infections or repeated transfusions; study IgA elevations associated with IgA myeloma
Special Instructions
Ensure that specimen is transferred to a plastic transport tube after collection. Stability in various conditions is very secure, with up to three freeze/thaw cycles possible, allowing flexible transportation and handling conditions.
Limitations
Certain limitations apply to the test including potential rejection due to gross lipemia or hemolysis. The IgA levels may not accurately reflect the immune status in all situations, and interpretation should consider clinical context and further diagnostic evaluations may be necessary for comprehensive analysis.
