Interleukin-8, Serum
Also known as: IL-8, IL8
Use
This test is used for the measurement of Interleukin-8 (IL-8) levels in serum.
Special Instructions
The test uses an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) for detection. Serum must be separated from cells and transferred to a plastic transport tube before submission.
Limitations
The test's performance characteristics were determined by Labcorp but it is not cleared or approved by the FDA. Clinicians should be cautious of interpretation, particularly in isolation, as IL-8 levels can be influenced by numerous factors including infection, inflammation, and other cytokine levels.
