Mephedrone, MDPV, and Methylone, Screen and Confirmation, Urine
Also known as: MDPV
Use
Detect presence of MDPV (methylenedioxypyrovalerone)
Special Instructions
No preservatives should be present in the urine sample. It is critical to collect the sample in a container without preservatives and to process it as soon as possible to maintain sample integrity. Additional confirmatory tests may be required if presumptive results are challenged.
Limitations
The test is limited to the detection of MDPV, mephedrone, and methylone in urine. It relies on initial liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry (LC/MS-MS) testing at a threshold of 1.0 ng/mL. Results can be influenced by the timing of specimen collection relative to drug use, the user's metabolic rate, and the sensitivity of detection at the threshold level. False positives or negatives can occur, and additional verification through confirmatory testing is recommended for clinical decision-making.
