MMP-9 (Matrix Metalloproteinase-9)
Also known as: Matrix Metalloproteinase-9
Use
MMP-9 is a marker of inflammation, tissue remodeling, wound healing, and the mobilization of tissue-bound growth factors and cytokines. Its expression correlates with abnormal collagen deposition in pancreatic cancer, lymph node metastasis in breast cancer, and regional vessel invasion by giant cell tumor of bone. MMP-9 contributes to the pathogenesis of numerous clinical diseases including rheumatoid arthritis, coronary artery disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, multiple sclerosis, asthma, and cancer. Research is ongoing to explore its role as a potential drug target.
