Respiratory Pathogen Panel With SARS-CoV-2, NAA
Also known as: BioFire, FilmArray
Use
This test provides simultaneous qualitative detection and identification of multiple respiratory viral and bacterial nucleic acids in nasopharyngeal swabs obtained from individuals suspected of respiratory tract infections.
Special Instructions
Labcorp also offers smaller targeted panels for Influenza, RSV, and SARS-CoV-2, associated with test numbers 140140, 140147, or 140163. It is important to collect NP swabs per standard techniques and immediately place the swab in viral transport media for accurate results.
Limitations
The performance of this test has not been established for patients without signs and symptoms of respiratory infection. Results must be correlated with clinical history and other data. Viral and bacterial nucleic acids may persist independent of organism viability, not implying infectiousness. The detection relies on correct specimen collection, handling, storage, and preparation. Improper procedures can lead to false results.
