Varicella Zoster Virus (VZV), DNA PCR
Also known as: VZV, DNA by Real-time PCR
Use
This test is intended to be used as an aid in the diagnosis of infections caused by varicella zoster virus (VZV) from whole blood or lesions. For the diagnosis of VZV in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), use Varicella Zoster Virus (VZV), Cerebrospinal Fluid (CSF), DNA PCR [139835].
Special Instructions
This test is not recommended for use in CSF, where a specialized test, Varicella Zoster Virus (VZV), Cerebrospinal Fluid (CSF), DNA PCR [139835], is required. Ensure accurate specimen collection and handling to prevent contamination or deterioration of samples.
Limitations
The performance characteristics of this test have been determined by Labcorp and have not received clearance or approval from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The test may not cover certain mutated strains or atypical presentations of VZV. Completeness of test performance in non-validated sample types or conditions cannot be assured.
