BOB-1 Immunostain, Technical Component Only
Use
BOB-1 is a transcriptional co-activator that interacts with transcription factors OCT-1 or OCT-2, regulating transcription of immunoglobulin genes. In normal tonsil tissue, germinal center B cells express BOB-1, with scattered expression in the mantle zone. Expression of BOB-1, OCT-2, and PU.1 transcription factors are down-regulated in classic Hodgkin lymphomas, unlike many diffuse large B-cell lymphomas.
Special Instructions
This test is for technical performance of the stain only and does not include pathologist interpretation. If interpretation is needed, a Pathology Consultation should be ordered. Digital image access requires electronic ordering.
Limitations
Age or environmental exposure can affect immunoreactivity. Slides should be cut within 6 weeks, limiting exposure to humidity and plastic. Nonformalin fixed or nonparaffin embedded tissues and inappropriate slides may cause rejection.
