Brachyury Immunostain, Technical Component Only
Use
Brachyury expression is essential for specifying mesodermal identity and plays a crucial role in notochord formation. The brachyury gene, a T-box transcription factor, is uniquely expressed in chordomas, making its detection important in aiding the identification of these distinct tumors.
Special Instructions
This test is for technical performance only and does not include pathologist interpretation. It should not be ordered alongside pathology consultation (PATHC), as technical components will be canceled if PATHC is also ordered.
Limitations
The test only provides the technical performance of an IHC stain; no pathologist interpretation is included. The positive and negative controls should be verified for appropriate immunoreactivity. Interpretations must be performed by a qualified pathologist in the context of clinical history and other diagnostic tests. Environmental factors like humidity and heat can affect slide quality. Best practices include minimizing exposure and storage time of slides post-unpackaging.
