CD2 Immunostain, Bone Marrow, Technical Component Only
Use
CD2 is a pan T-cell antigen, expressed on normal and neoplastic T cells and natural killer cells. The immunostaining is useful in determining T-cell lineage in cases of T-cell lymphoma. This test is primarily used to determine T-cell lineage, which can be critical in distinguishing different types of lymphomas and other hematological diseases.
Special Instructions
This test only includes the technical performance of the stain and does not include a pathologist interpretation. Technical component only stains should not be ordered with PATHC / Pathology Consultation, as the technical component stains will be canceled if they are.
Limitations
This test is optimized for use on B5-fixed, decalcified, paraffin-embedded bone marrow specimens. The stability of immunoreactivity can be affected by the age of cut paraffin sections, as this varies widely among published literature and is antigen-dependent. It is recommended for paraffin sections to be cut within 6 weeks to maintain optimal immunoreactivity.
