CD200 (OX2) Immunostain, Technical Component Only
Use
The CD200 (OX2) protein is a type I immunoglobulin superfamily glycoprotein. This test is useful for identifying the presence of CD200 protein in chronic lymphocytic leukemia, small lymphocytic lymphoma, hairy cell leukemia, and primary mediastinal large B-cell lymphoma. CD200 serves as a diagnostic marker to differentiate between certain lymphoma subtypes, such as distinguishing small lymphocytic lymphoma from mantle cell lymphoma and hairy cell leukemia from splenic marginal zone lymphoma.
Special Instructions
This test includes only the technical performance of the immunohistochemical stain; no pathologist interpretation is provided. It should not be ordered with PATHC / Pathology Consultation, as the technical component stains will be canceled if ordered together.
Limitations
This test does not include pathologist interpretation. Immunoreactivity may vary based on the age of a cut paraffin section, which can affect the results. The charge on glass slides can be affected by environmental factors, influencing slide staining. Optimal results require freshly cut sections, ideally within 6 weeks, and minimizing exposure to high humidity and heat.
