CD22 Immunostain, Technical Component Only
Use
This test is useful for determining B-cell lineage. CD22 is expressed on B lymphocytes and can be used as an alternative B-cell marker to CD20 or CD79a. It is diagnostically useful to confirm B-cell lineage in malignant lymphomas, providing important information in the context of the patient’s clinical history and other diagnostic tests.
Special Instructions
This test includes only the technical performance of the CD22 immunostain and does not provide a pathologist interpretation. If interpretation is required, a PATHC / Pathology Consultation should be ordered. This test should not be ordered together with PATHC as the technical component stains will be canceled in such cases. To access digital images, the order for IHC stains must be placed electronically, and necessary labels should be attached to the transport container.
Limitations
The test does not include interpretation. The age of paraffin sections can affect immunoreactivity and stability thresholds may vary among published literature. The charge of glass slides can be affected by environmental factors potentially altering slide staining, and sending unsuitable slides can result in inconsistent staining.
