CD30 Immunostain, Technical Component Only
Use
CD30 (cluster of differentiation 30) is a protein expressed in various neoplasms. This test is used for the identification of CD30 expression, particularly in embryonal carcinomas, malignant melanomas, mesenchymal tumors, and activated T and B lymphocytes and plasma cells. It is also relevant for diagnosing classic Hodgkin lymphoma and anaplastic large cell lymphoma. This IHC stain aids in determining the presence of CD30 expression in tissue samples, which can influence diagnostic and treatment decisions in oncology.
Special Instructions
This test includes only the technical performance of the stain and does not provide pathologist interpretation. It should not be ordered with the PATHC / Pathology Consultation; if ordered together, the technical component will be canceled. Appropriate labels must be attached to the transport container, and orders must preferably be placed electronically to access digital images.
Limitations
The test is limited to the technical component, without interpretive services. Pathologist interpretation requires a separate order through PATHC. Issues such as age and charge of glass slides can affect immunoreactivity, leading to potential false results. Paraffin sections should be cut within 6 weeks for optimal immunoreactivity.
