Chromogenic Factor VIII Inhibitor Bethesda Profile Interpretation
Use
This test is used for the interpretation of the Chromogenic Factor VIII Inhibitor Bethesda Profile, Plasma. It detects the presence and titer of a specific inhibitor directed against coagulation factor VIII, which is important in diagnosing potential life-threatening hemorrhaging due to Factor VIII inhibitors. Such inhibitors may be alloimmune or autoimmune in origin, necessitating distinguishing symptomatic patterns in different patient contexts.
Special Instructions
This test is not useful for detecting inhibitors against other clotting factors or lupus anticoagulants. It should be ordered only as part of a profile.
Limitations
Improper specimen collection, such as contamination with excess heparin or hemodilution, can cause spurious results. Additionally, this test will not detect inhibitors against clotting factors other than Factor VIII and does not detect lupus anticoagulants.
