Delta-8 and Delta-9-Carboxy-Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) Confirmation, Random, Urine
Use
This test is useful for the detection and confirmation of cannabis/marijuana use by specifically identifying and quantifying delta-8-carboxy tetrahydrocannabinol (THC-COOH) and delta-9-THC-COOH. These cannabinoids are key indicators of cannabis ingestion and are valuable in both clinical assessments and medico-legal cases where confirmation of drug use is required, particularly when initial immunoassays yield positive results.
Special Instructions
No specimen substitutions are allowed, and STAT requests are not accepted for this test. A Chain-of-Custody Kit (T282) is available for cases requiring chain of custody. Additional drug panels and testing options are available through customer service contact.
Limitations
The test does not substitute for clinical judgment in the interpretation of results. Carboxy-THC has a long half-life and can be detected in urine for extensive periods, which may not necessarily correlate with recent use. Chronic users might have detectable levels for longer durations due to accumulation in adipose tissue. While the test is confirmatory, specimen integrity and collection factors may influence the detection limits and outcome.
