ETV6 (12p13.2) Rearrangement, FISH, Tissue
Use
This test is useful for detecting ETV6 rearrangements irrespective of the ETV6 fusion partner gene. It supports the diagnosis of various neoplasms including mammary analogue secretory carcinoma, secretory carcinoma of the breast, and infantile fibrosarcoma when used alongside pathologic assessment.
Special Instructions
A pathology report is required for testing to be performed. If not provided, appropriate testing and/or interpretation may be compromised or delayed. Shipping instructions advise using Express Mail or equivalent if not on courier service.
Limitations
This test is not approved by the US Food and Drug Administration and is best used as an adjunct to existing clinical and pathologic information. Non-formalin fixed specimens may have limited success in fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) assays. Decalcified tissues have about a 50% success rate in FISH studies and will be attempted if sufficient tumor is present.
