Ewing Sarcoma, 22q12 (EWSR1) Rearrangement, FISH, Tissue
Use
Detection of EWSR1 rearrangements irrespective of the EWSR1 fusion partner gene. It supports the diagnosis of various neoplasms including Ewing sarcoma, extraskeletal myxoid chondrosarcoma, desmoplastic small round cell tumor, clear cell sarcoma, and myxoid liposarcoma when used in conjunction with pathologic assessment. The presence of EWSR1 rearrangement signifies a possible fusion with a partner gene, which is significant for the diagnosis.
Special Instructions
A pathology report is required for testing to be conducted. Ensure the report includes patient details and tissue source. Submit formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tumor tissue block or slides. Use express mail for shipping if not on courier service.
Limitations
This test is not FDA approved and should be used as an adjunct to existing clinical and pathologic information. Non-formalin fixed specimens and paraffin-embedded tissues that have been decalcified may not be successful for FISH analysis. A lack of FISH results may occur if no FISH signals are observed post-hybridization. Reflex testing with additional probes may occur at an extra charge.
