Exostosin 2 (EXT2) Immunostain, Technical Component Only
Use
Identification of exostosin 2 associated membranous nephropathy. Exostosin 1 (EXT1) and exostosin 2 (EXT2) are associated with a subset of primary membranous nephropathy where phospholipase A2 receptor (PLA2R) and thrombospondin type-1 domain-containing 7A (THSD7A) are not the target antigens. This test may help identify patients with secondary, autoimmune membranous nephropathy.
Special Instructions
This test includes only the technical performance of the stain without pathologist interpretation. If pathologist interpretation is needed, it should be ordered separately. Technical component stains should not be ordered with PATHC / Pathology Consultation, as they will be canceled if ordered together. Utilize the Immunostain Technical Only Envelope for submission.
Limitations
This test does not include pathologist interpretation, only technical performance of the stain. Interpretation of this test should be performed by a qualified pathologist in the context of the patient's clinical history and other diagnostic tests. The age of the paraffin sections can affect immunoreactivity, and best practices dictate that paraffin sections be cut within 6 weeks. Environmental factors may alter the charge of glass slides, affecting staining. Protect slides from high humidity and heat to maintain stability.
