Factor II Inhibitor Profile, Professional Interpretation
Use
Coagulation factor inhibitors are substances that can interfere with the function of specific coagulation factors. They may develop in patients with congenital deficiencies in response to replacement therapies, or can occur spontaneously or due to various medical conditions such as postpartum states, immunological disorders, certain antibiotic treatments, and malignancies. The Factor II Inhibitor Profile aids in detecting and quantifying inhibitors to factor II, providing essential insights for clinical assessment and management of patients with suspected coagulation issues.
Special Instructions
This test is not orderable independently and can only be requested as a reflex from another evaluation (2INHE / Factor II Inhibitor Evaluation, Plasma). An interpretive report is provided that includes a correlation of results with available clinical information.
Limitations
No significant cautionary statements related to diagnostic confusion were identified. The test is designed for specific use in detecting and quantifying inhibitors to coagulation factor II and is primarily used when significant abnormalities are suspected in the patient's coagulation profile. Improper specimen handling and choice of inappropriate tests might affect results.
