Factor IX Inhibitor Profile, Professional Interpretation
Use
The test is used for the interpretation of detection and quantification (titering) of coagulation inhibitors, specifically targeting Factor IX. It is primarily utilized for patients with hemophilia B, as they are at risk of developing inhibitors following factor IX transfusion. Inhibitors can be problematic, as they can provoke anaphylactic reactions to infusions and complicate the clinical management of these patients.

Not provided.
Limitations
Acquired factor IX inhibitors are exceedingly rare in previously healthy individuals. The test may not identify inhibitors if not triggered by factor IX transfusion or if inhibitors are present at levels below the detection threshold. Proper specimen handling and timely processing are critical, as mishandling can lead to misleading results.
