Factor X Inhibitor Profile, Technical Interpretation
Use
This test provides a technical interpretation of inhibitor to coagulation factor X testing. Coagulation factor inhibitors can arise in patients congenitally deficient in a specific factor in response to replacement therapy, spontaneously, or in response to conditions such as postpartum state, immunologic disorders, certain antibiotics, malignancies, and advanced age. It evaluates the presence or absence of a factor X inhibitor through interpretive comments based on factor activity results.
Special Instructions
This test is only orderable as part of a profile. For more information, refer to test 10INE / Factor X Inhibitor Evaluation, Plasma. An interpretive report will be provided when testing is complete.
Limitations
Occasionally, a potent lupus-like anticoagulant may cause false-positive testing for specific factor inhibitors such as factor VIII or IX. Additionally, if factor activity results are within normal ranges, inhibitor testing may not be indicated or performed.
