FGFR1 (8p11.2) Amplification, FISH, Tissue
Use
Providing prognostic information and guiding treatment primarily for patients with squamous cell carcinoma of the lung, breast, esophagus, thymus, and other locations. FGFR1 overexpression or amplification is associated with tumor growth and may be sensitive to FGFR1-tyrosine kinase inhibitors. Patients with FGFR1 amplification may be candidates for FGFR1 tyrosine kinase inhibitor therapies.
Special Instructions
A pathology report is required for testing. Submit a formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tumor tissue block. If a pathology consultation is required, order PATHC / Pathology Consultation. Ensure Express Mail or equivalent if not on courier service.
Limitations
This test is not FDA approved and is best used as an adjunct to clinical information. Non-formalin fixatives and decalcified paraffin-embedded tissues may not be successful for FISH assays. FISH studies will be attempted if sufficient tumor is present, otherwise testing may be canceled. No FISH signal post-hybridization will release as a lack of results.
