FLI-1 Immunostain, Technical Component Only
Use
Aiding in phenotyping endothelial-derived tumors, Ewing sarcoma, Merkel cell carcinoma, lung adenocarcinoma, melanoma, and erythroleukemia. Friend leukemia integration 1 (FLI1) transcription factor is a member of the erythroblast transformation specific (ETS) family of transcription factors, which has anti-apoptotic activity and interferes with nuclear hormone receptors. A chromosomal translocation between the FLI1 gene and EWS gene is found in most Ewing sarcomas. FLI1 expression occurs in endothelial-derived tumors, Ewing sarcoma, Merkel cell carcinoma, lung adenocarcinoma, melanoma, and erythroleukemia.
Special Instructions
This test includes only the technical performance of the stain. No pathologist interpretation is provided. Technical component only stains should not be ordered with PATHC / Pathology Consultation. If ordered with PATHC, the technical component stains will be canceled.
Limitations
This test does not include pathologist interpretation, only technical performance of the stain. The positive and negative controls are verified as showing appropriate immunoreactivity. Age of a cut paraffin section can affect immunoreactivity. Stability thresholds vary widely among published literature and are antigen dependent. Best practice for paraffin sections is to be cut within 6 weeks. The charge of glass slides may be affected by environmental factors, affecting staining.
