FosB, Immunostain, Technical Component Only
Use
FosB is a member of the Fos transcription factor family and a component of the activator protein-1 (AP-1) protein complex. It is useful in diagnosing pseudomyogenic (epithelioid sarcoma-like) hemangioendothelioma and can help distinguish it from histologic mimics. FosB is also found in a subset of epithelioid hemangiomas, making it a potential diagnostic marker for these conditions.
Special Instructions
This test includes only the technical performance of the stain and not a pathologist interpretation. Immunohistochemistry (IHC)/in situ hybridization (ISH) stains should not be ordered with PATHC / Pathology Consultation, as the technical component stains will be canceled.
Limitations
The age of a cut paraffin section can affect immunoreactivity, and stability thresholds vary widely and are antigen-dependent. The charge of glass slides can be influenced by environmental factors, potentially affecting slide staining. Best practices recommend cutting paraffin sections within 6 weeks and minimizing the storage and exposure time of positively charged slides to humidity and heat.
