GlycoMark
Use
GlycoMark is intended for use with managing glycemic control in diabetic patients. It provides a measure of glycemic control over a short-to-medium period. A low GlycoMark result indicates the occurrence of high glucose peaks, which are associated with increased risks of complications in diabetes management.
Special Instructions
This test should be coordinated with appropriate blood sample collection methods. Serum must be spun down and sent in a plastic vial for ambient transport; similarly, plasma requires appropriate handling for ambient shipment.
Limitations
1,5-Anhydroglucitol (1,5-AG) levels can be influenced by certain physiological and pharmacological conditions. Medications and clinical states that impact renal glucose excretion can lead to variations in 1,5-AG levels, potentially affecting test accuracy. Proper management of these variables is critical for reliable results, and re-evaluation is recommended if initial results suggest unaccounted influences.
