Golimumab and Anti-Golimumab Antibody, DoseASSURE GOL
Use
The Golimumab and Anti-Golimumab Antibody test is utilized for patients undergoing treatment with Golimumab, a human monoclonal antibody used to reduce inflammation in diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, and ankylosing spondylitis. The test quantitatively measures the levels of Golimumab and the anti-Golimumab antibodies in the serum. This can provide insights into the patient's exposure to the drug and their immune response to it, enabling clinicians to evaluate the efficacy of the therapy and make informed treatment decisions.
Special Instructions
Serum samples must be separated from cells within 45 minutes of collection to ensure integrity. High levels of serum biotin can interfere with the assay; patients are advised to cease biotin consumption at least 72 hours before sample collection. It's crucial to submit separate frozen specimens for multiple tests to avoid delays in processing. Testing is performed on Tuesdays, and the sample must be processed accordingly to meet the operational schedule.
Limitations
The assay may not always detect anti-Golimumab antibodies in cases where treatment with Golimumab is failing, as other factors may be contributing to therapeutic ineffectiveness. The presence of anti-Golimumab antibodies might not always correlate with therapeutic failure, nor does their absence confirm successful treatment. High serum biotin concentrations can lead to assay interference and potentially erroneous results.
