Histone H3 K36M Mutant (H3F3 K36M) Immunostain, Technical Component Only
Use
The Histone H3 K36M Immunostain test is useful for the diagnosis of chondroblastoma, a rare benign bone tumor. This test detects the presence of Histone H3 K36M mutation which is expressed in the nuclei of the mononuclear cell population of H3F3B altered chondroblastoma. Detection of this mutation helps pathologists support the diagnosis of chondroblastoma.
Special Instructions
This test includes only the technical performance of the stain. No pathologist interpretation is provided. Technical component only stains should not be ordered with PATHC / Pathology Consultation. If ordered with PATHC, the technical component stains will be canceled. Order must include the appropriate labels, and for clients ordering stains using a manual requisition form, no access to digital images is provided.
Limitations
This test does not include pathologist interpretation, only technical performance of the stain. Age of a cut paraffin section can affect immunoreactivity, and the stability thresholds vary widely among published literature and are antigen dependent. Best practice is for paraffin sections to be cut within 6 weeks. Sending unsuitable glass slides can result in inconsistent staining due to slide surface chemistry. Proper storage and handling are crucial to maintain test accuracy.
