Human Leukocyte Antigens (HLA) Class I and II Disease Association Typing, Low Resolution, Blood
Use
This test is useful for identifying class I and II human leukocyte antigens (HLA) for potential disease associations or as markers for drug hypersensitivity. Class I and II HLA genes are part of the major histocompatibility complex and encode proteins involved in immune recognition and regulation of the immune response. These antigens are significant in conditions such as organ transplantation, disease susceptibility, and drug hypersensitivity.
Special Instructions
The test is intended for situations where both class I and class II HLA results are desired for disease association. Specific orders can be made to focus on either HLA class I or class II if only one is needed. Specimen acceptability is based on extracted DNA concentration without consideration of sample age.
Limitations
No significant cautionary statements have been noted for this test, suggesting that it is generally reliable under standard testing conditions. Interpretation of results depends on the rationale for ordering the test and the clinical context. However, results do not substitute for direct consultation with healthcare professionals for comprehensive interpretations.
