IgA Immunostain, Technical Component Only
Use
The IgA Immunostain test assists in the classification of lymphomas and multiple myeloma. It aids in diagnosing and classifying small B-cell malignant lymphomas and multiple myeloma by targeting immunoglobulin heavy chains, specifically IgA, which is a major immunoglobulin found at mucosal surfaces.
Special Instructions
This test includes only the technical component of the stain; no pathologist interpretation is provided. It should not be ordered alongside a Pathology Consultation (PATHC) as technical component stains will be canceled if PATHC is ordered.
Limitations
The test does not include pathologist interpretation, only technical performance of the stain. Glass slides may be affected by environmental factors which can alter slide staining, and cut paraffin sections may lose antigen reactivity over time; best practices should minimize storage and exposure to heat and humidity.
