IgG Immunostain, Technical Component Only
Use
The IgG immunostain test is useful for the classification of lymphomas and multiple myeloma. It involves staining for immunoglobulin heavy chains, which can aid in the diagnosis and classification of small B-cell malignant lymphomas and multiple myeloma. IgG immunohistochemical staining helps to identify B lymphocytes and plasma cells, which are pivotal in forming the humoral arm of the immune system, marking a crucial step in diagnosing certain hematological conditions.
Special Instructions
This test includes only the technical performance of the stain; no pathologist interpretation is provided. Technical component only stains should not be ordered with PATHC / Pathology Consultation. If ordered with PATHC, the technical component stains will be canceled. It is essential to follow the appropriate shipping instructions, including attaching the 'Attention Pathology' and 'Immunostain Technical Only' labels to the transport container.
Limitations
The test does not include a pathologist interpretation, which is necessary for full diagnostic evaluation. Positive and negative controls are verified for appropriate immunoreactivity, but the age of paraffin sections can affect results. The charge of glass slides and environmental exposure may alter staining outcomes, requiring best practices for storage such as minimizing time stored after unpackaging and limiting exposure to humidity, heat, and plastics.
