IgG4 Food Panel II
Use
The IgG4 Food Panel II is used to evaluate food-specific IgG4 levels which can assist in the management of dietary sensitivities. Although reference ranges are not clearly established, the test is used in certain clinical situations to determine foods for dietary evaluation in patients with food-related complaints. The presence of food-specific IgG4 in response to oral food immunotherapy treatments has been examined, although clinical utility and cutoffs have not been clearly defined.
Special Instructions
Draw blood in a plain red-top tube. Serum gel tubes are acceptable. Spin down and send 1.5 mL of serum refrigerated in a plastic vial. The test is not orderable for NY State clients.
Limitations
This test has not been cleared or approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. The clinical utility of IgG4 tests is not clearly established, and no defined cutoff values exist. Results should be used in conjunction with clinical evaluation, potentially assisting in dietary elimination and challenge strategies.
