Ki-67(MIB-1), Pulmonary, Quantitative Immunohistochemistry, Automated
Use
The test is useful for determining the proliferation of tumor cells in paraffin-embedded tissue blocks from patients diagnosed with carcinoid or atypical carcinoid of the lung, including metastases. By measuring the presence of Ki-67 antigen, it provides an estimate of DNA synthesis, which may offer prognostic information across various tumor types.
Special Instructions
Attach the green "Attention Pathology" address label (T498) to the transport container before shipping. Pathologist's name, address, and phone number, along with an accompanying pathology report stating the final diagnosis, are required.
Limitations
The paraffin block analyzed must be representative of the patient's tumor. Test results should be interpreted in the context of clinical findings and other laboratory data. Any nucleus forming an antigen-antibody complex with the diaminobenzidine (DAB) chromogen is evaluated, and test accuracy largely depends on proper specimen collection and handling.
