Lymphoid Enhancer-Binding Factor 1 (LEF1) Immunostain, Technical Component Only
Use
The Lymphoid Enhancer-Binding Factor 1 (LEF1) Immunostain test is useful for differentiating cancers of B-cell origin. LEF1 is a transcription factor involved in the activation of genes within the Wnt signaling pathway, commonly expressed by inactive T-cells and a subset of B-cells. This test aids in the diagnostic assessment of chronic lymphocytic leukemia and small lymphocytic lymphoma.
Special Instructions
This test is for technical performance only and does not include pathologist interpretation. It should not be ordered with PATHC / Pathology Consultation, as the technical component stains will be canceled if ordered with this consultation. Ensure that no charged slides, nonformalin fixed, or nonparaffin embedded tissue are submitted.
Limitations
Age of a cut paraffin section can affect immunoreactivity, with stability thresholds varying widely and being antigen dependent. Best practice suggests cutting paraffin sections within 6 weeks. Inappropriate slide submissions can affect test results due to external factors like humidity, heat, and surface chemistry of slides.
