MayoComplete Acute Myeloid Leukemia, Therapeutic Gene Mutation Panel (FLT3, IDH1, IDH2, TP53), Next-Generation Sequencing, Varies
Use
This test is used for the evaluation of acute myeloid leukemia using a focused 4-gene panel at the time of diagnosis, or possibly during relapsed or refractory disease, to guide potential therapeutic approaches. It detects somatic gene mutations, including type, pattern, and distribution, which have diagnostic, prognostic, and potential therapeutic implications in hematologic cancers.
Special Instructions
Whole blood and bone marrow specimens must arrive within 14 days of collection. The following information is required: clinical diagnosis, pertinent clinical history including disease phase and therapy status, collection date, and specimen source. An interpretive report will be provided.
Limitations
This targeted next-generation sequencing assay covers 4 genes with partial or hot spot coverage. It detects single base substitutions, small insertion or deletion type events, but not gene rearrangements, fusions, copy number alterations, or large scale deletions. It does not distinguish between somatic and germline alterations in analyzed gene regions. Prior treatment could affect results; a history of hematopoietic stem cell transplant may cause difficulties in resolving somatic or polymorphic alterations.
