MayoComplete Solid Tumor Panel, Next-Generation Sequencing, Tumor
Use
This test assists in tumor profiling for diagnosis, predicting prognosis, and identifying targeted therapies for the treatment and management of patients with solid tumors. It identifies somatic alterations, including single nucleotide variants, small deletions/insertions, gene amplifications, homozygous gene deletions, fusions, and splice variants associated with tumorigenesis in solid tumors. It assesses microsatellite instability and tumor mutational burden status, providing insight into the effectiveness of immunotherapeutic treatment options.
Special Instructions
A pathology report containing the patient's name, block number, tissue collection date, source of the tissue, and pathologic diagnosis must accompany the specimen for testing to be performed. Follow-up germline testing using whole blood can be performed for confirmation of suspected clinically relevant germline alterations.
Limitations
This test cannot distinguish between somatic and germline alterations with absolute certainty. Additional testing may be necessary to clarify the significance of results if there is a potential hereditary risk. The test does not detect large structural variants, large copy number changes, or deletions-insertions greater than 20 base pairs. Rare variants may lead to false-negative or false-positive results. A negative result does not rule out the presence of an alteration. The presence or absence of a variant may not predict therapy response in all patients.
