Mucin 5AC, Immunostain, Technical Component Only
Use
Mucin 5AC is a glycoprotein within the secretory mucins family expressed in gastric epithelial cells and is useful in the subtyping of intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasms. It serves as an aid in distinguishing various neoplasms, thereby assisting in refining diagnostic categorization and informing patient management strategies.
Special Instructions
This test is for the technical execution of the stain only and does not include pathologist interpretation. If interpretation is needed, PATHC/Pathology Consultation should be ordered separately. Technical component orders cannot be combined with PATHC orders as technical only stains will be canceled. Proper labeling and packaging are required per provided instructions.
Limitations
The test does not include pathologist interpretation and solely evaluates the technical performance of the stain. Immunoreactivity may decrease depending on the age of the cut paraffin section. External factors like environmental conditions may affect glass slide charges, potentially causing staining inconsistencies. Prepared slides should be handled with care to maintain stability and minimize exposure to adverse conditions such as humidity and heat.
