Myocyte Enhancer Factor 2 (MEF2B) Immunostain, Technical Component Only
Use
This test is useful for the classification of lymphomas. Myocyte enhancer factor 2 (MEF2B) is a marker of normal germinal center B cells and lymphomas derived from such cells. It is expressed in conditions like follicular lymphoma, Burkitt lymphoma, nodular lymphocyte predominant Hodgkin lymphoma, as well as in most cases of mantle cell lymphoma and diffuse large cell B-cell lymphoma.
Special Instructions
This test includes only the technical performance of the stain; no pathologist interpretation is provided. Use caution when ordering alongside PATHC / Pathology Consultation, as the technical component stains will be canceled in such cases.
Limitations
The test does not include pathologist interpretation and only involves the technical component of the stain. The age of a paraffin section can affect immunoreactivity and best practice is for sections to be cut within 6 weeks. Glass slides should be stored properly to minimize alterations in staining caused by environmental factors.
