PAX2 Immunostain, Technical Component Only
Use
The PAX2 Immunostain is used to aid in the diagnosis of endocervical adenocarcinoma and renal cell carcinoma. PAX2, a nuclear transcription factor, along with PAX8, is useful in diagnosing renal cell carcinoma. The loss of PAX2 expression is also helpful in diagnosing endocervical adenocarcinoma.
Special Instructions
This test includes only the technical performance of the stain, with no pathologist interpretation provided. Technical component only stains should not be ordered with PATHC / Pathology Consultation, as the technical component stains will be canceled in such cases.
Limitations
The test does not include pathologist interpretation, which should be sought via PATHC / Pathology Consultation for full diagnostic evaluation. The age of paraffin sections can affect immunoreactivity, requiring sections cut within 6 weeks for best results. Glass slide quality and environmental factors can alter stain effectiveness. Slides should be stored properly to maintain integrity.
