Phencyclidine, Umbilical Cord Tissue
Use
This test screens for the presence of phencyclidine (PCP) in umbilical cord tissue, as part of evaluating in utero drug exposure. It is only orderable as part of the comprehensive drug screen profile for umbilical cord tissue (FCDSU) and is not orderable separately. Useful when confirming exposure to PCP during pregnancy, especially in contexts where forensic or clinical decisions may depend on such detection.
Special Instructions
Only orderable as a profile—see FCDSU (Comprehensive Drug Screen, Umbilical Cord Tissue). If appropriate, confirmation testing will be performed at no additional charge. NY State: available. Reporting Name: Phencyclidine, UC.
Limitations
All specimens will be evaluated by the processing and performing laboratory for test suitability. Reporting limits are determined each analysis. Because the test is only orderable as part of a profile, separate ordering of this component is not permitted.
