Potato White IgG
Use
Potato White IgG testing is used to determine the presence of immunoglobulin G antibodies specific to potato white (Solanum tuberosum) in the serum. The presence of these antibodies can help in diagnosing possible allergic reactions or sensitivities to potato white. This test can be particularly useful for patients who present with symptoms consistent with food allergies or intolerances after consuming potatoes.
Special Instructions
Ensure the specimen is collected in a plain red-top tube or serum gel tube, spun down, and then refrigerated. It's crucial that the serum is sent in a plastic vial with a minimum volume of 0.5 mL.
Limitations
The test is specific to IgG antibodies against potato white. It does not detect IgE-mediated allergic reactions, which are typically associated with immediate hypersensitivity reactions. The presence of IgG antibodies may not directly correlate with clinical symptoms and should be interpreted in the context of the patient's clinical history and other diagnostic information.
