PU.1 Immunostain, Technical Component Only
Use
PU.1 is an erythroblast transformation specific family transcription factor that regulates expression of immunoglobulin genes and other genes important in B-cell development. It is expressed in B cells in the germinal center and mantle zone, not in plasma cells, and plays a role in macrophages, mast cells, early erythroid cells, and megakaryocytes. It is often downregulated in classical Hodgkin lymphoma, useful for lymphoma diagnosis.
Special Instructions
This test is for the technical performance of the IHC stain only. No pathologist interpretation is provided. It should not be ordered with PATHC / Pathology Consultation, as stains will be canceled. Pathology consultation stains are performed at the pathologist's discretion.
Limitations
The test does not include interpretation, only technical performance of the stain. The age of a paraffin section affects immunoreactivity and may influence results. Best practice is cutting paraffin sections within 6 weeks. Glass slides need to be stored properly; poor storage may affect staining.
